We had our first weekly Summer Gathering last Wednesday evening, starting to study the book of Ephesians. It was so exciting to see how many of you want to dive into the Word deeper with us this summer. Again we experienced how we are encouraged just by reading Scripture and praying together. Can't wait for our next meeting this Wednesday--keep plugging away on lesson 1. This past Wednesday I shared that our family has had a rough few weeks. I hope to share more of what's going on in the near future, but right now I want to share just one story of how God has been speaking to our family daily in the midst of our trial... During one of my sleepless nights last week, I was thinking about my youngest daughter who had shared a bit of the worry that is on her heart during this season. As I lay in my bed wide awake in the dark, my heart broke that I hadn't been able to protect her from all that was going on. I suddenly thought of the verse in the Bible that talks about the sparrows, and how if God knows and takes care of each one of them, how much more does he care for us. I vowed to look up that verse and share it with her the next day. The next morning I got up and did what I always do first--I made a glorious cup of coffee (ahhhhhh.....) and then sat down to do my daily devotion plan on YouVersion (sorry, God--coffee comes first! :) To my surprise, my good friend Sarah had created a verse image just 15 minutes earlier, and it was the verse about the sparrows! Later that day she texted me and told me she made that image with me in mind. Amazing! God spoke so clearly to us through my friend! I told my husband about it, and we shared the story and verse with our kids and were all amazed at yet another example of God telling us that He's got this trial of ours firmly in His hands. And then, just in case we didn't get the message, Garrett sat down that evening to read the devotion plan he had started and guess what the Scripture was? You guessed it--the sparrows verse.
Friend, are you facing a trial big or small? God has a purpose in it--He loves you far more than the sparrows! He knows you so well that he even knows how many hairs are on your head! So don't worry. Trust. Dive into His Word, talk to Him and I promise you He will show up!

Our summer study starts this week Wednesday, June 19! We are so looking forward to gathering together and discovering what God has to teach us through His Word in the book of Ephesians. Paul wrote this book to the church who was beginning to forget their first love for Christ. They were encountering false teachings, and Paul wanted to remind them of their immeasurable blessings in Christ and also to live in a manner worthy of them. Like this church, we too can easily fall into self focus and complacency and miss out on the riches He makes available to anyone of us. So, go ahead and read through Ephesians. Take a look at the Introduction on the first two pages of our study guide and come to relax, abide, and be encouraged on Wednesday. Feel free to invite a friend- anyone is welcome! If you haven't yet, take a look at this awesome overview video as well. See you soon! |
