Friends, there is an important question that each of us needs to ask for ourselves. As many of us have studied the book of John, we got to know Jesus and what He did here during His ministry. In Matthew 16:15, Jesus asks his disciples this question: "But who do you say I am?" This week, we encourage you to ask yourself that same question. Joel Houston offers some beautiful words to consider in this performance of "Oceans". You can even start at minute 12:43 to hear him talk about Matthew 16. We can look at the book of John to help summarize the mission for which the Father sent Jesus into the world. It's hard not to praise Jesus when we consider what He came to do!
Jot down some notes you learn from John 1:12-14, 18; 3:16-17; 4:35; 5:24-30; 10:17-18; 12:23-24, 27-28, 46; 18:37; 19:30. (NavPress. Life Change Series: John. 1988, 2010) Ask yourself, "who is Jesus to me?" When we abide, we get to see and hear and feel for ourselves who Jesus is. We continue to be so incredibly thankful for each of you and the encouragement that is flying around at our gatherings and throughout the month! We hope to see you again tomorrow, Friday, February 1st at 6:30! Everyone is welcome!

Here's a way you can abide AND connect at the same time! A couple of our friends will be attending the IF Gathering in Oshkosh coming up. This is a great way to abide in Christ, connect with other believers, and learn how to disciple others!
Here's another way to connect locally: Join us in praying for the LIFT Gathering for christian educators (and supporters) this Sunday evening, Jan. 27. There will be 80 people from our local public school communities there! Please pray that the Holy Spirit will be present, that those attending will be inspired to see their school as a mission field, and that God would be glorified. Next Gathering is in one week! Friday, February 1, 6:30pm. We can't wait! Our schools and teachers are something very near and dear to our hearts. We recognize the incredible opportunity educators have daily to show the love of Christ to kids and families in our communities. We also recognize the time, energy, and heart our educators give to our kids and want them to know that they are not alone!
Through abiding in Christ, fellowship with others, and prayer, God will show up and work miracles! There are testimonies of this happening all around our county as God has been moving in the incredible mission field of public schools. If you are an educator, coach, bus driver, cook, custodian, school board member, or parent who wants to support educators, join us for the 2nd Annual WI LIFT America Gathering. LIFT stands for Lasting Impact Fellowship for Teachers. LIFT America is an outreach ministry of Christian Educators Association International and is part of a movement to empower, encourage and equip Christians working in public schools. It will be held at the Generations building in Plymouth, WI on Sunday, Jan. 27, 5:30-8pm. Spouses are welcome to attend. The cost of the event is $20 per person and includes dinner. Follow this link to find information, a video trailer, flyer, and registration. Please register as soon as you can. We have limited attendance of 192 due to seating. Feel free to share with others that you would like to invite! Our prayer is that if public schools are near and dear to your heart, you will join us for an evening that will aid in equipping you to fully live for Jesus in the mission field He has placed you in. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us! Our Elkhart Lake area women's Abide Group we will be starting a new book, Jesus Is Better Than You Imagined on February 1st. Anyone can join us in reading it and reflecting through a question or two each week on your own, with a partner, or here online. Check out this video and purchase or borrow your own book if you want! We will take 2 months to go through it. A new book may be a good time to invite new people to join us!
Our intent is NOT for this to replace your reading of THE Book, the Bible. For us, Abiding in Christ means taking time for the Bible first, other books second. So if you only have time for one, you know which one to choose. :) Please note that we will still keep our Gatherings general for new people and anyone who doesn't choose to read the book. So if you're not joining us in this study, please still come to our monthly Gatherings where we dive into Scripture and encourage each other to abide in Christ. These have been such a blessing to us! |
